Excursion tour "Perge-Aspendos-Side" or M.A.S. - this is a great opportunity to learn a lot of interesting historical facts, take a walk through the ancient cities, admire the beautiful nature and amazing Turkey.

According to legend, the city was founded by the soothsayer Calchas after the Trojan War. In order to avoid raids from the sea, the city was founded 11 kilometers from the sea coast on the banks of the ancient navigable Kestr River (now Aksu).

В VII веке до н. э. город перешёл к лидийцам, а затем в VI веке до н. э. — к_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_Persians.

В 333 году до н. э. без боя сдался Александру Македонскому [one]. Then the city was ruled by the Seleucids and Pergamum.

In 262 to n. e. its most famous native —mathematician and geometer Apollonius was born in the city.

In 189 to n. e. as a result of the Antioch War Perge came under the authority of Rome[2].

During the Roman period, the city reached its peak. In I-II centuries n. e. Perge was one of the largest cities in Asia Minor, competing with Side for the title of the main city of Pamphylia

В I век в городе проповедовали апостолы Павел и Варнава

In Byzantine epoch, the river Kestr, the main artery connecting Perge with the coast, silted up, which led to the decline of the city.

В VII—VIII  веках набеги арабов привели к дальнейшему опустошению города. By the arrival in XI veke of the Seljuks from the once rich city and a small village, which then completely disappeared.

Excavations have been carried out on the territory of Perge since 1946, but most of the city is still buried underground. The oldest finds made on the acropolis of Perge date back to the 5th millennium BC781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_n. e., and a permanent settlement existed there from the 3rd millennium to_cc-58c31 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_n. e. Thus, the city is much older than the legends claim.

In 2009, Perge was included in the provisional list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites .

Once one of the three largest cities in Pamphylia famous for its horses, Aspendos today is a small town, but a very important tourist center. Here is the best preserved ancient theater in Turkey (beginning of construction in the 2nd century BC), which has hosted an annual opera and ballet festival since 1994.

The ancient city of Side (in the Anatolian dialect, the word "side" means "pomegranate"). This majestic city was built on a peninsula and had a port on both sides. Despite frequent earthquakes, many sights of Side are well preserved to this day. The most beautiful and majestic attraction of Side is the temple of Apollo, the ruins of which are located on the seashore in the ancient port.
