Antalya Historical and Archaeological Museum is one of the best museums in Turkey with its interesting history and unique exhibits.
The history of the creation of the museum is closely connected with the period of the occupation of Antalya by Italian troops in 1919. All the valuables collected by Italian archaeologists did not have time to move to Italy - they remained in Antalya and were soon exhibited in one of the Kaleiçi mosques.
Now the Antalya Museum covers an area of about 7,000 m2 and includes 13 rooms, dating back to the Neolithic era, and one open gallery on the street with large exhibits (columns, lids from sarcophagi, pedestals).
The most colorful and interesting are the halls with marble sculptures of mythological gods - Zeus, Athena, Hermes, Apollo, Hercules, Dionysus and the Roman emperors - Hadrian and Trajan, as well as unique marble sarcophagi ...
We will tell about the stories and legends associated with museum exhibits, as well as what connects most of the sculptures of the museum on our excursions ...
