Lake Salda is not only the deepest and clearest freshwater lake in Turkey, but also a truly splendid place to relax. Lake Salda is of volcanic origin and is located at an altitude of 1,150 meters above sea level, with a depth of 184 meters. Surprisingly, Lake Salda is known as the Turkish Maldives due to its snow-white shoreline – the result of natural deposits consisting of magnesite, dolomite, and limestone. The water in Lake Salda is also so pure that it's safe to drink (a spring with cold, clean drinking water is pictured). And of course, the lake's special clay is said to be beneficial for various dermatological conditions. Surprisingly, Lake Salda is always very uncrowded – a true haven for relaxation and solitude.
