Lake Salda from Marmaris – our Turkish Maldives

The lake is of tectonic origin and was formed on the site of a former volcanic crater. The reservoir with the purest transparent water is considered one of the most beautiful in the world and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

For its rare combination of white sand and turquoise water, Lake Salda is often called the “Turkish Maldives”. This is facilitated by the abundant and variegated wildlife vegetation along the banks, which attracts birds, butterflies and other fauna.

Unearthly landscapes, mineral and mud baths

The chemical composition of the lake water is simply unique. Lake water contains hydromagnesite, silver and even gold ions. This is possible and gives a special color to the water and snow-white sand. But it is reliably known that this composition gives healing properties to the water itself and the sediment from the clay.

There are even separate places on the shores of the lake where you can take clay baths that are beneficial for the skin. On a hot day, it will be a real salvation to plunge into the mineral waters of this unique lake.

Active holiday with a visit to the heavenly place “Lake Salda”

Lake Salda is located in the mountains at an altitude of more than 1000 meters above sea level, so in the summer heat it is a little cooler and fresher here, which allows you to enjoy the unique beauty of the wild nature, pine-covered mountain slopes and the coolness of the lake water.

The water in the lake warms up well, so there are two public beaches on the shore. There are two campsites for those who like individual recreation. Bicycle tours and walks are organised.

How to get to Lake Salda

The lake is located near Antalya, in the Yesilova district of Burdur, and is only 4 kilometers from the city center.

For those who are not ready to travel by public transport, we offer an excursion from Marmaris to Lake Salda and Pamukkale.

This will allow you to complement your experience with a walk through the ancient city of Hierapolis, see Cleopatra’s baths and plunge into small snow-white calcium pools.
