Perge is the antique pearl of Antalya, the most explored and richest antique city in Antalya.

Its history began in the 7th century BC. during the period of Greek colonization of the Mediterranean coast, however, it flourished in the II-III centuries, when the territory of Pamphylia belonged to the Roman Empire. It was during this period that Perge became the capital of the region and was actively rebuilt. Theater, stadium, agora (central city square), Roman baths, fountains, water canals, columnar streets - everything was built during this period. And the most interesting thing is that you can now see all this with your own eyes and walk along the Roman columnar streets of the capital of Pamphylia.

I would also like to note that Perge is the only one among the other cities of Pamphylia, which was decorated with a large number of marble sculptures of ancient Greek gods, Roman emperors and their wives (now all 68 of the sculptures found in Perge are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Antalya).

If you are interested in the history of the "first city" of Pamphylia, you want to walk along the real Roman streets, visit the Roman stadium and the large Greco-Roman theater, then you definitely need to in Perge ...
